We thank „Metztli“ for the chance to review their song Namonakihana.
The songs starts with an unique guitar-intro, which is followed by hard drums. Hence it is very surprising to hear such a soft and angelic voice is smoothly joining in that arrangement. The voice seems to tame the hard beats of the instruments and afterwords they perfectly harmonize together.
Rucas voice really makes you shiver. This feeling strengthens, when the voilin joins in. Even the drum slows down, so does the guitar. It all creates some very special atmosphere and makes the song very lightly. At some point, you really get the impression that the instruments dancing around the voice, wishing only to be at her service.
So the parts where the voice is missing, that Aki, Yuu and Yakiboy go crazy. Heavy guitar-rifs, hard drums and bass working hard and harder. As if that is not enough, these parts seems to call out for something what seems to come back as soon as Ruka joins in again. The whole song is an up and down of different feelings and emotions, combined in a perfect manner. So far, you will not expect that such hard instruments like drums or bass, can get along with a classic instrument like voilin so perfectly...in such a new way! Namonakihana so is a very special and unique song, going new ways within the music-scene.

Rebirth as well as ressurection are topics which everyone of us thinks about sometime in life. Now also the musicians of Silver Ash engaged in this subject and included it in their music, but that is not the main reason why they wrote that song. They collected all their deliverables and mixed them together to create the song named "Reborn".
In the beginning of "Reborn" you can hear calm Sounds. The voice in the background makes you shiver in a positive way plus you're anxoius for the following minutes. While the Drums cue in with the same slow tempo and then increase, it mounts the tension.
Now an electric-rock Sound starts so the whole song turns out to be absolutely dancable.
With the first words "And now I am reborn..." the song's subject is picked up immediately and dircetly slapped to the listener's face.
During the verses you can mainly hear the drums and the bass. It points out the vocalist and the lyrics, the message is getting even more clear. The contrary is the chourus in which the intence energy of the E-Guitar is earth shattering . Simultaneously, the chourus is yelled at the audience. The end of the song is sudden and abrupt. Only the first sentence "And now I'm reborn..." is repeated and then everything is over. With a blink of the eyes the instruments stop before the vocals and thus clarifies the sung text again.
In conclusion the four musicians of Silver Ash demonstrated that they keep their tails up and want to go right back to the top of the charts. With this song they will probably have quick success. With their combination of hard guitar-riffs, fast dancable rhythms and memorable, english lyrics they directly hit the bull's-eye of the audiance, it would be impossible for anyone to keep standing still.

One band has been influenced the Heavy-Metal since years. Their music is aggressive, emotional, filled with rock and still has something special. This group will never dissappear. The contrary is the case! They are disappearing, just to come back soon after it with an even bigger sensation. At their lives they are fascinating their fans with a breath-taking show, built up of fast guitarriffs and rapid rhythms. Sometimes blood is used for the lives as well. Of course we are talking about DIR EN GREY.
The five musicians called their new album „THE UNRAVELING“. After „RINKAKU“ this has been the first bigger release for the past years. The mini-album has seven tracks in total.
„Unraveling“ itself is a song full of energy, filled with hard guitarriffs. Starting up from the first seconds, DIR EN GREY are putting in everything they have. At some parts, the background is accompanied by multiple voices, what is the most eye catching fact. „Unraveling“ somehow seems quite familiar, but it still has the charm of a new song.
„KARMA“ and „KASUMI“ will make the hearts of metal fans beating faster.
The shouting parts are surpassing the ones of the first song. The enormous change of speed and rhythm should be mentioned as well.
The next song „Karasu“ is rather slow. But still offers a variaty of emotional parts just to change into shout parts again. The refrain is catchy as well, especially if you take a closer look to the guitars.
With tracks like „Bottom of the death valley“ and „THE FINAL“ the band from Japan takes a side trip to their own discography. Those songs already have been parts of previous releases and now will be re-released on that album. For sure in new versions.
With „THE UNRAVELING“ DIR EN GREY are coming back with a new album, which will be released in Japan and Europe at the same time. For all fans who collect CD: soon the physical version will be released as well.
In Japan the First Press Limited Edition will be released with the tracks below but will include an Extra-DVD with special footage as well. The Deluxe-Edition has three other tracks, you can find below as well. Also it has the DVD as well.

On Tuesday 13th JUNO REACTOR released their new album “THE GOLDEN SUN OF THE GREAT EAST”. This was the first non-remix album since 2008 but again with a lot of familiar names participating. One of them is Sugizo, but this time only for 2 tracks.
It contains 9 Tracks and the artwork is a manipulation of old religious paintings with symbols of war and violence. Again lots of instruments were used that you would not expect of the genre which results in the rich sound of the music.
The first song “FINAL FRONTIER” starts with huge bells ringing and is building up slowly. It is very soothing but also fine for moving and dancing along. The main melodies are nearly ethereal and very beautiful and tend to stuck in your head.
It is followed by “INVISIBLE” a more powerful song because of the rhythms. Here Indian influences are audible and paint strong pictures in the mind. The songs seems to evolve a few times, changing and making it interesting listening to it.
After that one “GUILLOTINE” starts a very typical song for JUNO REACTOR that is more distant and cooler but threatening due to the rhythm.
As forth song “TRANS SIBERIAN” is a nice contrast in itself: the basic rhythm and melody fit perfectly to the “vocals” but at the same time there a is fusion of things you would not expect together when you do not listening to JUNO REACTOR a lot. The female voice is very clear, strong in contrast to the male voice, which is very dark.
“SHINE” is one of the most impressive songs of the album as there are a lot of different instruments that do not fit on the first approach (i.e. Sitar and Violin) but the song proves that they can work together in a very beautiful way. When listening to that song the dancers on stage from recent live pictures just make sense. The song is a very warm song, a very rich one in colour. It is stimulating the mind but in a different way than “Putting on the Blitz” for example does.
The following song “TEMPEST” starts very slow and cool, creates tension with that. But as soon as the faster rhythm starts it is flat, not very 3D. Electric Sounds emit from the side, cross the virtual stage and vanish. Around 5.30 it can even be described as annoying though the end again was a nice surprise. It is not very predictable with what the song vanishes.
After that “ZOMBIE” starts, a dark and heavy song with slow rhythms. You can literally see the Zombies walking around. The clear sounds fit perfectly and the song can even give the listener a small amount of goosebumps. At least if one lets him-/herself dive into the picture created by the intro.
With the eight song “TO BYCULLA” the music again changes and comes back to the second and fifth song. Like the one before, it is still slow and heavy but softer and bewitching at the same time. Byculla is a part of one of the larges Indian cities. and the sound resembles the pictures you connect with India.
As last song “PLAYING WITH FIRE” is a very calm and very puristic song that builds up slowly. It catches the ethereal of the first song but is softer, more subtle as it does not have a vivid, dominant rhythm.
It is a very soothing, calming and bewitching song that suddenly powers up towards the end, climaxes and fades in a very soft finish.
All in all Ben Watkins again shows that he is absolutely capable of guiding the listener into different worlds. He is able to paint intense and strong pictures just through music and rhythm which not only make his music extremely vivid but also connect to different levels of emotions.
Tracklist:
1 FINAL FRONTIER
2 INVISIBLE
3 GUILLOTINE
4 TRANS SIBERIAN
5 SHINE
6 TEMPEST
7 ZOMBIE
8 TO BYCULLA
9 PLAYING WITH FIRE
The single was already released on the 11th August 2012, and for you we have this review now:
The single "Dizzy Love" includes, in addition to the title song, another song which is named "Checkmate!" (which means "Schachmatt" in german). "Dizzy Love" however could be translated as "Schwindlige Liebe" in german. And with this, we are right listening to the new material. The name is program and a synthesizer tries to pull the listener directly into the scenery, conveying the feeling of a gentle storm that tries to take you away. Adam's voice becomes seamlessly one with the wind, if you like. The drums, which accompany him, seem to chase away the storm. But in the end, its the voice of the singer that is all-time present and is even outshining the guitar. After the first chorus it goes right back into the vocals. Some listeners might call it rap, but those are still vocals that are accompanied by raw guitar riffs. And even if one might think that Adam is trying to compete with the guitars, he is singing them away. And then again the chorus, and at it's end, you can perfectly hear how he goes into the high-pitched tones without breaking away. Followed by a spooky but beautiful drum and guitarsolo. If you close your eyes you can clearly hear the storm, the thunder and lightnings with a little rainfall. The following vocals connect to this and underline the atmosphere. And this atmosphere, being held up by the distorted voice, sounds like small waterdrops that are falling to the ground and creating a puddle of water. The impression: you look at this puddle of water and see yourself in it, wishing the rain to stop. But the rain won't stop, and so the chorus comes again, leading your thoughts with an epic instrumental piece into a different direction. Now you believe that the rain is falling even stronger and that you have to strive against it even more....and to sing against it. But it turns out to be the guitar, that is slowly, just like the sun, dispersing the thick clouds. And with the resurfacing voice of Adam, the change is being underlined. His loud and rough scream, again accompanied by the guitar, finally takes its place as the breaking-through sunray. And the following chorus, it feels like a liberation, as if you have achieved a victory. And as well as this, the song proceeds, waiting for the end, the moment when the darkness returns, and the mischief is being announced. From the first second till the last, the title song "Dizzy Love" succeeds in trying to leave different impressions on the listener, even marking different feelings.
The second song is completely different compared to "Dizzy Love". Even if the intro is being led by a synthesizer again, it is a more darker song, that is being affected by the continuous distorted voice of the singer. But not only this distortion makes it sound so dark, no, in addition it has a lot of raw effects and heavy accordion-like sounds, that are played all through the way in a very fast manner. It seems like one man would run through the streets at night, facing the most cruelest and darkest places of the city. Almost overwhelmed by the strong basslines and the distortion, the piece becomes the darkness itself. While Adam sings, the impression that he is trying to establish lamentation, strongly fills the scenery. But still, its a dark song with dark music accompanying him. At the moment he sings "Checkmate!", his voice raises incredibly high, making it look like a squeal. Exactly like this, the rap-like deposits leave the impression that they are incongruous. But if you listen to it twice, you will realize that it sounds like the man in the night, we talked about before, would meet another man who follows him then. Therefore the second man's voice is just filling the background, never trying to suppress the main actor of the scenery. In a grotesque way it can be seen as schizophrenia. As if two thoughts would compete in the endless depths of the night. Those passages, that continue without vocals, drag you even more into this scenery, into the feelings. In contrast to "Dizzy Love" at which's end the impression of a happy ending is being created (in the form of the sun that is dispersing the clouds), you would be waiting here only for vain. The song ends as it has begun. With a shadowy atmosphere and the word "Checkmate!" at the end again.
And now here is the PV
